Bulldogs Move to #6 in the Latest AAA Poll After Defeating Franklin Co. 38-25

The Bulldogs moved to #6 in the latest AAA poll that was released this week.  Hart County is now 2-0 on the season as they defeated Franklin Co. 38-25 at Ed Bryant Stadium in Carnesville.  The Bulldogs were led by the Robert Allen, Jr.(12-of-15, 256 yards) to Zach Maldonado connection as they combined for 232 yards and 3 TD’s.  The Bulldogs return home this week as they host the Thomson Bulldogs who are ranked #8 in AAAA.  It will be a huge test for the Bulldogs as they kickoff at 7:30pm from Herndon Stadium.

*1. (1) Calhoun (2-0)

Last week: Beat Carrollton 24-20. Calhoun trailed 20-3 with 8:33 left in the first half after Carrollton returned an interception 71 yards for a touchdown, but Calhoun QB Kaelan Riley threw two TD passes and ran for a third in the rally. Riley rushed for 115 yards and one touchdown on 14 carries and was 20-of-27 passing for 254 yards and two touchdowns. LB Jireh Wilson had three tackles for losses for Calhoun. Calhoun has won 68 of its last 69 regular-season games, its only loss to Carrollton in 2013. Next: Friday vs. Gordon Central (0-2)

*2. (2) Blessed Trinity (2-0)

Last week: Beat Sequoyah 28-10. Blessed Trinity led 28-0 at halftime and pulled its offensive starters. QB Connor Davis threw three TD passes, two to freshman WR Ryan Davis covering 30 and 62 yards. Next: Friday vs. Creekview (1-1)

*3. (5) Jefferson (3-0)

Last week: Beat North Hall 35-0. Jefferson held North Hall to four first downs and 55 yards in total offense. RB Colby Wood rushed for 109 yards and two touchdowns, giving him 612 yards rushing unofficially on the season. Next: Friday at Commerce (2-0)

*4. (4) Elbert County (2-0)

Last week: Beat Stephens County 34-30. QB Mecole Hardman rushed for 139 yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries. Jason Bowman returned the opening kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown. DE A.J. Edmond had three tackles for losses and one sack in the final minute that helped seal the victory. Next: Friday at Westminster (1-1)

*5. (6) Cedar Grove (1-1)

Last week: Off. Next: Friday vs. Miller Grove (2-0)

*6. (7) Hart County (2-0)

Last week: Beat Franklin County 38-25. QB Robert Allen (12-of-15, 256 yards) threw three TD passes, all to WR Zach Maldonado, who finished with 10 catches for 232 yards. PK Sergio Gomez made a 33-yard field goal and was 5-for-5 on extra points. Next: Friday vs. Thomson (2-0)

*7. (9) Peach County (1-1)

Last week: Beat Perry 13-6. QB Antonio Gilbert’s 1-yard TD run in the third quarter broke a 6-6 tie. Peach led in total yards only 220-195, according to the Macon Telegraph. Next: Friday vs. Southwest, Macon (1-1)

*8. (NR) Westside, Macon (2-0)

Last week: Beat Harris County 30-10. RB Donta Pate rushed for 125 yards on 21 carries. Harris County was within 16-10 in the third quarter before turning the ball over on four consecutive possessions, one a fumble that Kareem Warren returned 27 yards for a Westside touchdown. Next: Friday vs. West Laurens (3-0)

*9. (NR) Central, Carrollton (2-0)

Last week: Beat B.E.S.T. Academy 33-12. Central led only 20-12 in the fourth quarter before putting the game away. Damarious Owensby rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries. Rick Dyer had eight tackles, two interceptions and one sack. Next: Friday vs. Hardaway (1-2)

*10. (NR) Cook (1-1)

Last week: Beat Berrien 20-0. Sophomore DB Trea Jackson returned an interception 80 yards for a touchdown that put Cook up 20-0 late in the first half, and that was the end of the game’s scoring. Cook scored its other touchdown on an 85-yard pass from Connor Hilliard to Tavion Allen. Next: Friday at Pierce County (1-1)
